What Is an EPC Rating?
Every house has an Energy Performance Certificate that grades a property based on its current energy efficiency between A to G. Those properties with an EPC grade of A indicate optimal energy efficiency whilst at the other end of the spectrum is grade G with the worst energy efficiency.
The ECO4 grant is applicable to homeowners with a property EPC grade of D, E, F or G.

How You Can Benefit From The ECO4 scheme
If you qualify for the ECO4 grant scheme in Scotland, the upgrades and energy-saving applications you receive will depend on what heating and insulation applications currently have installed at your property. Room-in-Roof & Loft Insulation
With heat loss contributing to high energy bills, loft and room-in-roof insulation is a popular energy-saving measure as part of the ECO4 grant.
External and Cavity Wall Insulation
The grant can also cover external wall and cavity wall insulation to help retain heat inside the property, thereby creating a warmer home
Boiler Upgrade
If you have an inefficient non-condensing boiler, it could be upgraded to an A-rated condensing gas boiler.
First-Time Central Heating
If you've never had central heating at your property before, the ECO4 grant can cover the installation of a central heating system to keep your property warm.
Renewable Heating
If your boiler is old and inefficient, you may be eligible for a new renewable heating solution, such as an air source heat pump installed at your property.
Solar PV
If a District Heat Network isn't viable, then the grant may allow for Solar PV installation at your property as a renewable electricity generating source to power heat pumps.

What Is The Criteria For Receiving the ECO4 Grant?
Besides from your property having a low EPC rating, there are other criteria you must meet in order to benefit from the ECO 4 grant in Scotland.

If the only benefit you receive from the list is Child Benefit, then your income must be no more than the specified amount below to be eligible.
