There is a combination of factors to consider when deciding which charger is the best for you. Charging an EV can take anything between 30 minutes or more than 12 hours. The time it takes to charge your EV will vary depending on the size of the battery and the speed of the charging point.
If your EV has a 70kWh battery and is plugged into a 7kW charger then it would take 10 hours to charge from flat to full and provides about 30 miles per hour of charge. This is the most common type of charger used in a domestic property as a single phase energy supply capacity is needed.
Typically it would cost around £8.40 to charge a 60w vehicle with approx a 200 mile range at home. Commercial charge points vary, however you could expect to pay around £6-7 for a 30 minute charge.
The cost of installing an EV charger will vary depending on the type of charger you would like installed, the route from the distribution board and any additional work to be carried out prior to the installation.
